Mission
Provide a comprehensive web-based portal to integrate, store, display, analyze and download data and geographic information that supports the needs of academic, institutional and professional users (public, private and social) for the planning and management of the border region of Mexico and the United States.
Vision
The Border Geoportal is a self-financing geospatial technology platform that offers governments, researchers and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) of both countries cutting-edge tools to support research, planning and management projects in the border region.
Geoportal Objectives
- Disseminate comprehensive identical data and information in both Spanish and English to promote international collaboration between Mexico and the United States.
- Support the planning and management of the border region of México and the United States through a web portal of data and information accessible to users with a wide variety of expertise and interests.
- Establish the Geoportal as a key component of a sustainable model of applied geospatial research.
- The target customers are: Government agencies, public officials, researchers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), students, private institutions, consultants, the media and the general public.
