About us

The International Spatial Technology and Research (iSTAR) Lab is an academic partnership endowed with the necessary means (computer infrastructure and professional expertise) to carry out scientific research and implement applied geospatial technology.

The Lab's mission is to spearhead the application and development of free and open-source geospatial technology software for use in academic institutions as well as the public and private sector. The mission of the iSTAR Lab is to not only provide expertise in the United States and Mexico, but in any other country or institution where services may be requested.

With more than 20 years of experience in geospatial technology, we provide high quality products and services in critical fields such as education, water resource management, health, energy, human migration, public safety, transportation, climate change and sustainability. Our services range from the training and development of skillsets in geospatial technology, to the design, development and application of geospatial solutions through the use of free and open-source software.

For the development and execution of its scientific and professional activities, the iSTAR Lab has two headquarters: one at CSUN in Los Angeles and another at UNAM in Mexico City.
